New feature sends text message to your cell phone
The latest information on school closures in the Aberdeen School District can be sent straight to your cell phone or computer thanks to a feature the district has added to its FlashAlert Newswire. You can sign up to receive a text message on your cell phone and e-mail account every time the district posts an emergency notice on the Internet.
Signing up is easy. All you need is an e-mail address and you can register up to three e-mail or text message addresses.
Follow these directions to get started:
Click on "School Snow Closures" link above
Then choose “Aberdeen Dist. 5”
The district’s current messages and alerts will come up on the screen and you’ll also see a window where “new subscribers” can enter their e-mail address
Enter your e-mail address and follow the prompts to set up your account.
This is an added feature to the district’s emergency notification system. The district will continue to notify local media whenever there is a closure and continue to post emergency information and weather-related closures on the Web site.
